Child Care Program Development

Richmond Hill Playing and Learning Specialists utilizes the Pinnacle Curriculum. This curriculum is designed to engage children in developmentally appropriate activities that move them toward their potential in all areas of child development.

Our program includes the following:

  1. Group and individual activities.
  2. Active and quiet play.
  3. Activities that promote gross and fine motor skills.
  4. Activities to promote language and cognitive skills.
  5. Activities to promote social and emotional development.
  6. Outdoor play is provided for children of all ages, weather permitting.
  7. Every child from 18 months to 4 years has a rest period following lunch.

Positive reinforcement of acceptable behavior will be practiced at Richmond Hill PALS. If inappropriate behavior occurs the inappropriate action will be explained to the child and acceptable behaviors will be offered. The caregiver will redirect the child toward the acceptable behavior. If further action is required the child will participate in a “time out” session. After “time out” the child will rejoin the class. In the event that “time out” does not correct the behavior the facility director will be summoned to handle the situation. The child may have “time out” in the director’s office and/or parents may be called.

Any child that displays behavior that may be harmful to other children or staff will be removed from the classroom immediately and the parent will be notified.
